Entertainer: Kory Wlos

The 2013 Rodeo Cabaret is pleased to welcome Edmonton country singer Kory Wlos as the headline entertainment for the evening.

Born in Athabasca and raised in Boyle, Kory was introduced to music at an early age. While growing up, everyone in his family  played an instrument or at least loved listneing to country music. He remembers his mother playing Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley and Loretta Lynn records and those artists were big influences on Kory.

While attending college Kory started taking guitar lessons and thus began his voyage as a country singer. He joined a home town band called The Rainbow Riders and enjoyed it thoroughly. After listening to singers/songwriters such as Conway Twitty, Garth Brooks and Paul Brandt, Kory was inspired to try his luck at writing songs. On the loss of his father, Kory's passion for music increased and he wrote ballads and songs that related to his father. He eventually took over the band, renaming it Kory Wlos and The Ryders. Kory has never looked back, playing at many festivals, bars and rodeos in the years since.

Kory released his first CD, "Highway Love", in 1999. He wrote every song on that album, which was reviewed by Country Wave magazine's Marc Stevenson, "Kory Wlos seems to have a ton of talent, a great attitude and a bright future ahead of him".
Kory received his Education degree and has been teaching and coaching for the past two years. He currently lives in Edmonton and is working on his second CD. Kory is best known for his boundless energy on stage, his appealing voice and his natural charisma. The main thing he would like for people to get out his music is an ability to relate to the different situations his songs takes them through. His hope is that the songs will touch their hearts as they have touched his.
